I never intended to make a film about Israel. I set out to understand my young son's nightmares.
That search led me back through three generations of my family: from my grandmother Miriam's childhood in Detroit, to my father's upbringing in a kibbutz, and ultimately to my own experience raising a child in Israel today.
A Mother's Land is a hybrid documentary and animated feature film about motherhood, inherited fear, memory, and belonging. Through family archives, documentary footage, animation, and personal storytelling, it explores the fragile bond between the American Jewish dream of Israel and the reality of raising a child there today.
